Well, I have a couple of theories. One is that perhaps Dumbledore isn't as
powerful as we're led to think and Lilly and James knew this. Or maybe
there's something about being a secret keeper that makes a man vulnerable.

Second, maybe this is additional proof for the Evil!Dumbledore theory. Maybe
L&J knew that Dumbledore wasn't what he appeared to be.
