I think the reason Sinistra didn't contribute something was 
because her area of expertise was not in an area that would 
provide much protection. A star chart wouldn't be much to stop 
Voldemort! Quirrel.
Although you do raise an interesting point, about the teachers 
being a select few- Why wasn't the CoMC professor consulted? 
Sure they had Fluffy, but another dangerous beast wouldn't go 
astray? But then again, seeing as it  was the first book, it is quite 
feasible that she hadn't thought up the CoMC position yet.
Hmm, looks like I answered my own question. . . Oh well
