I have both the UK and the US versions, and both say "hare lip" (see 
post #43829).  I don't think we can blame the American editors for 
this one, but I'm still waiting to hear which edition says "hairy 
chin."

I have a UK paperback edition, obviously not a first edition, that says "hairy chin." My American paperback says "harelip." Personally, I prefer the original wordage, but then again I don't like the fact that they even have "UK editions" and "US editions". I prefer reading the UK editions because I feel they are in the purist form. I do not see the need to Americanize these works of literature.
