Sinistra and Gender

If this was already settled, aplogies.  I did a search in the archives, but 
didn't find anything definitive.  I lost a bit of mail this week.   Anyway, I 
had it in the back of my mind that Sinistra was female, and I think I have 
canon to support it (GoF, ch23): 
"Mad-Eye Moody was doing an extremely ungainly two-step with Professor 
Sinistra, who was nervously avoiding his wooden leg."
  I think if it were two male teachers dancing, JKR might have mentioned it, 
no?
