Well, we know from JKR's interview that Hagrid was in Gryffindor, so
leaving him off this hypothesizing would be worthwile. Also, Hermione,
as we've recently discussed, says in Book 1 that Dumbledore was in
Gryffindor, so while that's not irrefutable by JKR in subsequent books,
at this point, it's something that we have to work with.
