I'm glad I'm not the only one... I've always wondered why he's about
to kill Harry in Moody's office when he *knows* V wants to do it to
prove his supremacy (or if you accept MAGIC DISHWASHER, at least send
Harry back with false info for Dumbledore).  I think either that Crouch
by that time was so ga-ga he was no use even as an effective DE, or...
That he was playing a double-game all along, meaning to emerge as the
*new* "biggest bully in the playground"...
