I think a lot of people are judging Slytherin personality traits by the
example of Tom Riddle and Malfoy, but Crabbe and Goyle are also in
Slytherin, and they are remarkably pathetic individuals.  

Now, mind you,  I think all of MWPP, including PP were Gryffindor,
because it just makes sense.  If they were in opposing houses they would
be competing all the time, opposing each other for things like the house
cup, the Quidditch cup (even if only James played, I'm sure the others
rooted) For them to be tight knit as they were, it makes the most sense
for them to all be in the same house.

But, that said, that doesn't mean they couldn't have been in different
houses, and if PP were a Slytherin, I don't think that would be a too
unreasonable assumption.
