Sorry, I didn't include enough information. The two shadowy figures 
are named specifically as Cedric and Frank earlier in the text. I 
was typing in a hurry this morning and omited that part. I think 
it's just missing. I think that it is possible that given the 
description of Bertha joining the others, that Harry failed to 
notice the reguitation of the failed curse. There seems to be more 
of an authorial gap in this description than there is in the first 
two descriptions. 

I would look it up for you, but I am not moving. Sorry, blame 
intramural volleyball.
