bboy_mn:

If Snape was a spy for Dumbledore then he is in big trouble, but if he
was a spy for Voldemort pretending to be a spy for Dumbledore then he
may have a chance of getting back in with Voldemort.

Although, the really question isn't whether he really was a double
agent, but whether Snape can convince Voldemort that he was a double
agents.

I could be wrong, but I can't see any other reasonable way that the
story can go.
