Well, I think that the fact that Hermione does know more spells does make her 
more powerful in the fact that she has more of a variety of spells to choose 
from. As such, JKR does also stress that not everything is based on magical 
ability. Friendship, bravery, and love all seem to jump into the plot in one 
way or another. So Hermione could be a lot more powerful than we think! We 
will just have to wait and see what JKR decides to surprise us with next~!
