Well, the word definitely has serpentine connotations.  I have to
constantly hit the backspace when I type it out, because I keep making it
"Slythering", which is similar to "slithering", of course.  I think that's
where it came from.  Of course, you could also stick a space in the middle
and have "sly therein", which certainly describes what kind of people
you'll find in the house!
