Tom said during the COS flashback that he was named after his Muggle
father, and later said in the Chamber that he wasn't going to keep his
"filthy Muggle father's name" for the rest of his life.  The one who
became Voldemort was Tom Marvolo Riddle; the one who died was just Tom
Riddle.
