This is very interesting. I think we're pretty clear on the fact that the
veil was in the Death Chamber (as called by Dumbledore), referring to the
"beyond the veil" expression used by many to refer to death. Now, where did
that expression come from? Somebody had to first refer to death as a veil,
right? And the only veil in history I can think of is the veil in the
tabernacle of the Old Testament referred to above. Sure, there may have
been others, but that doesn't mean *I* can think of them. :) That's your
job. Does anyone know where the "veil" analogy for death came from to begin
with?
