Actually, a group owls was called a parliament. Don't ask me how I know that.

But as far as Vernon changing his words, I assumed it was just a 
demonstration of his ignorance - he got it right the first time, and then corrected it to 
something that was wrong. I don't think there was any hidden meaning, I just 
thought he was being a git like he always is.
