One reason I haven't bought into the Evil Lupin theories is JKR
stating that Lupin is one of her favorite characters. My feeling is
that when she says this she means she likes Lupin for who he is not
because he's fun to write like nasty characters can be. (i.e Snape)
I can't imagine JKR thinking so highly of a traitor especially when
those he betrayed were some of the few people who accepted him for
who he is.
