Laura:

You're quite right, in which case Remus being a Ravenclaw prefect 
would have no effect whatever on James or Sirius.  

Btw, it appears that this topic has been discussed before, a couple 
of years ago.  I'm pretty new to this list (and posting to groups in 
general), so forgive me for not doing the research before posting.  I 
read the archives on this after I sent my post.  I'll try to do 
better...
