 I wouldn't be suprised if Lupin is the married teacher JKR refers to 
in her interviews.  She has said we would learn more about teachers 
and spouses - maybe Lupin was married.  His wife would be so happy he 
got a job at Hogwarts, she may not have cared that he was gone.  I 
mean she would be the one working.  Of course, werewolves would have 
to be allowed to marry - are they? Since I think we will see more of 
Lupin in book 6, maybe we'll meet the mrs as well. If he is married, 
she should at least get him a new robe :)
