In PS/SS, doesn't Harry notice that Ron's used robes were a little 
short, and you could see his trainers (shoes) and part of his jeans? 

It would be odd if the books kept mentioning what the kids wore 
under their robes. The only time Rowling seems to mention clothes is 
when it shows something about the character and how he/she is 
perceived, like Dudley's old clothes make Harry look scruffy and 
neglected, or Ron's dress robes further illustrate how poor the 
Weasley's are.
