I think that was the whole point of Neville that courage and heroes 
come from the most unlikely of places. Neville is chubby and clumsy 
and is usually not a heroic person, but his actions say otherwise and 
the fact that he loses his father's wand in battle is very Luke 
Skywalker/King Arthur like in action points to an increased part in 
future books
