Buttercup:

I agree that the editors don't know the plots for the
last two books. They have no idea if something is
significant or not, so their hands are pretty much
tied. They have to take the books as they are and be
grateful, which they should be since I'm sure it's
made the publishers more successful and richer than
they ever imagined.  Who are we to say what's
unnecessary? Maybe after Book 7 we'll have the right
to judge.
