Whether the wizarding world or not, this is England and the systems 
are very different here. I am unfamiliar with either of those terms 
in actual fact. Farmers generally sell their produce in bulk to 
distributors although a certain ammount of produce is sold 'over the 
farm gate'. I strongly suspect that the Weasleys actually grow a 
certain amount of food in their garden and also if you remember 
Harry's first visit to the Burrow, there are hens scratching in the 
farmyard.
