I was also a little surprised to see this spell said in OotP, as it
was one that we heard in the film, CoS. I have to assume that maybe
JKR gave Kloves the spell so Snape had something to say to get rid of
the conjured snake(not just waving the wand). Anyway, we see it
several times in OotP and I have to imagine that this is the
incantation to the Vanishing Spell. The only queston I have, is to
where do things vanish? To a place of which the caster is thinking?
If it makes conjured things vanish, do they just go back into
nothing? Anyway, I'll stop thinking abou this and go back to my
boring old job now.....
