James and Lily's Occupations

I was wondering if anyone had any thoughts about what James and 
Lily's occupations were.  Are we to assume that they were Aurors?  I 
remember vaguely in an interview with J.K. a long time ago, she said 
that she couldn't say what there occupations were because it would be 
revealed later on.  Now we know that they have thrice defeated He who 
blah blah blah but does that neccessarily mean that they were 
Aurors.  I also remember in that interview that J.K said that James 
inherited a lot of money so he didn't have to have a real high paying 
job. Any thoughts?
