Yikes!  That is not what I was getting at, at all, at all, at all! I 
really meant "just friends", based on an earlier statement that even 
members of the Order didn't like Snape, and only tolerated him 
because he was useful.  I think McGonagall would consider Snape a 
friend as well as a colleague.  I wouldn't have sworn to that in 
Book 1, when they were caught up in the House Cup and Quidditch 
competitions, but now I'm pretty sure.  No romance, but just 
appreciation and friendship.  She probably worries about him just as 
Dumbledore does.
