Snape adopt Harry?

Goblet of Fire, Chapter 22p 392 US paperback edition:

"...Snape, of course, would no sooner let them play games in class 
than adopt Harry."

Any hidden meanings? I haven't given it a whole lot of thought, but I 
thought I would run it past the "reading too much into things" 
experts :) and see if anyone thought this was one of those offhand 
remarks that might mean something in the future.
