Now that you mention it, yeah, I had the same reaction. It's not 
exactly breaking news that the Dursleys are horrible, but they always 
seemed cartoonishly so to me. That scene made me realize what a truly 
sad childhood Harry had.

I found Snape's memories pretty depressing too, especially the one 
where his parents were fighting. I won't EVEN go into that pensieve 
scene. Dreadful.
