I only joined the group in July and my first post just over a week

Sirius' death seems to be solely for the "benefit" of Harry's
emotional development!
If Sirius is indeed still alive, I would not expect Harry to be told
until end of book 6 at the earliest. If Sirius uses Fred & George
Headless Hats and the Invisibility Cloak he could enjoy freedom once
more, the Headless Hat allowing movement without the cumbersome
stooping required if just using the cloak.
