Like what? It seems to me it is Ron who makes this sort of speculative
but joking things that actually come true. Can you give examples of
Hermione's track record?

I don't know about all of you, but I'm satisfied with the explanation
already given - that he got it from Voldemort.

I think it wanted to put Harry in Slytherin because of his "nice
thirst to prove himself." Harry was brought up being pushed down so
often, he just wanted to rise up for once. That's a slytherin-type
quality.
