I agree, Tonks (like Sirius mind you) was blasted off the family wall (also 
like her mother) because she did not show the Black nature of mudblood hating 
and cruelty, other such harsh things that were shown to be the strengths of the 
Black family. Tonks would not have been in Slytherin either unless she was 
evil because she was part muggle. 

That leads to Tom RIddle being part muggle but he was evil enough for that 
not to matter, he also hid his lineage.
