Interesting that you mentioned the Deryni books. In them magic is also an
inborn talent and a science, but the Derynis are pursued by some prejudiced
clerics who think the Deryni magic is evil and satanic. Reminds of some
modern clerics, doesn't it? And I thought I lived in the 20th
century...Never mind, I know what I see, and no priest is going to dissuade
me!
