Didn't Harry's parents and Cedric Diggory die from Avada Kedavra? I
really don't think there's any indication in the books that the Potters
or Diggory didn't go on to whatever afterlife wizards have, so I think
their souls are probably intact. I think that the AK curse could be
merciful, because there are times when death is a blessing.
