IIRC the original name for Bonfire Night is Guy Fawkes Day, and
it commemorates a specific event in English history (the foiling
of the Gunpowder Plot, a plot by Guy Fawkes and his fellow
conspirators to blow up the Houses of Parliament).

It could be that despite the soubriquet of a certain phoenix, the
WW is uninterested enough in the details of Muggle history to
commemorate the event.
