This just popped into my head - who else do we know who has experience with 
drugged candy?

Fred and George Weasley!

Think about the sampler box they were selling - candy where you eat one end to get 
you too ill to go to class and they other end to instantly recover.  Perhaps it will be 
they who figure out that the Longbottoms are being drugged and they who find the 
counter-candy cure for it!

Everyone has been wondering if the twins antics will take a more serious (and helpful) 
turn in the coming war - perhaps this is it.
