Carol:
Far from being the oldest, he was the youngest. The oldest, and
presumed leader, was Lucius Malfoy, six years older. Bellatrix, from
internal evidence in OoP, was three years older than Snape. The others
were probably somewhere in between. It appears that they had all left
Hogwarts by the time of the Prank in his fifth year. At that point he
had become a loner with no defense except retaliatory hexes.
