Erin:

That was definitely the way I read Remus moving in with Sirius after 
Christmas.  And they gave Harry a mutual Christmas gift.  I saw it as 
JKR sort of throwing a bone to the fans of that pairing, the way the 
TV show "Xena: Warrior Princess" used to mess around with Xena and 
her sidekick Gabrielle being percieved as lesbians.
