After your post, Geoff, I reread the passage and was astounded to 
see a different meaning after reading it so many times.  I had 
always read it as the body (in the form a bone) was wearing the 
invisibility cloak.  LOL  Always something new when reading it yet 
again....
  I think I was thrown off the by the earlier reference where Barty!
Moody says "Carried [the body] into the forset.  Covered it with the 
Invisibility Cloak. I had the map with me.  I watched Potter run 
into the castle...."  For whatever silly reason, I'd read it as he'd 
just left the cloak on the bone!body and buried it.  
  So one of Moody's cloaks was covering Barty Crouch Sr.'s body in 
GoF.  I wonder if you can dry clean an invisibility cloak?  <g>
