The library's keeper. Apparently, she's not here to help the 
students. She seems to share the knowledge she keeps in her library 
very sparingly. In the very first book, Harry has to use the 
Invisibility Cloak and to break the rules of the Restricted Area in 
order to find some information about Nicolas Flamel, because she 
usually doesn't want to provide the students with the information 
they need. Thanks to her, Harry dares breaking openly the rules of 
his school, he learns to disobey willingly. And the continuation of 
the series shows that in some times, disobedience can be helpful 
(see what happens with the Ministry).
