       I still like my theory, that Snape got the Map confiscated by Filch 
and Sirius told Snape how to get to lupin in revenge, a sort of 'serves him 
right' attitude. Much like he still seems to display. Perhaps it was 
confiscated from Peter, who ran to Sirius. Then Sirius storms into their 
meeting spot, while Peter is telling James and says something like "well I 
fixed that slimy git's wagon. I *told* him how to get to Remus. Let's see how 
well Mr. Dark Curses Champion can handle a werewolf!" Then James (or Lily, if 
she was there) goes "You *idiot*, Remus will KILL him!" and James hares off 
to pull Snape out of the tunnel.
