Why didn't Parvati/Lavender do something?(was: Why did Hermione lie?)

I think Parvati and Lavender are not airheads, just self-centered.  
I'm sure I've read that at least Parvati has exchanged some words 
with Hermione, but not Lavender.  They simply didn't care, IMO.  And 
it also would have taken away from Harry and Ron becoming friends 
with Hermione if Lavender and Parvati did something to help.  After 
all, it's about Harry.
