EIleen postulates; (in regards to Crouch Jr, meeting and quickly killing his
father)
<< "Oh," says Elkins. "Still, I just can't imagine that he would have wanted
to waste any time, or been willing to risk any unwanted attention. I mean, he
wouldn't have wanted there to be any screaming, you know, or any broken
*weeping,* or any horrified *pleading.*" >>
Has it been established that Crouch Sr had seen/heard enough of Voldemort's
councils to *know* that his son was at Hogwarts masquerading as Moody? He
knew he was there, certainly. But did he know that it was as *Moody?* I'm not
convinced that he did. It would have been too easy to order him off to some
room out of earshot before discussing their next steps. After the dustbin
incident, Crouch Jr. was no longer in the house at all, and while Sr might
have overheard something about there being a masquerade, there isn't a lot of
reason for V&W to mention who Jr was impersonating.
Mind you, he might have figured it out if he kew that his son was teaching
DADA classes, since he knew Moody had hired on for that. But he was probably
still confined to a secure room and may not have overheard anything in
detail. The fact that Pettigrew was alive and Voldemort was back in a
physical sense were enough of a bombshell that needed to get to Dumbledore.
