Harry as Christ-figure is highly plausible. I'll run with it.

our first dose of Christian allegory after the series is more than
halfway through."

There's so much Christian allegory in the first four books that my Dad
preached about it in church two weeks ago. Books have been written on it.

stickbook also wrote: "Plus, she's all about surprises and plot twists;
I'd be *shocked* if she followed a route mapped out by countless other
works of literature."

She is a WhoDunnit writer; each book has a little mystery to solve with
all the proper clues and red herrings. But the overarching plot has
involved identifiable and oft-used ideas: good vs evil, childhood vs
adulthood, prejudice, etc. These have been mapped out by countless other
works of literature. But in Potterverse they are new and interesting. So
don't count out Harry as a Christ-figure.

Sally wrote: "If his destiny had already been foretold, then surely he
would be known as 'The boy who was born to save the wizard world' or
something, not 'The boy who lived'".

Now, just because some crackpot foretold something doesn't mean
the whole world believes it. Barely anybody believed John the Baptist
(who foretold Jesus' coming), or even Jesus himself. And even fewer stuck
their neck out for him, save some poor fishermen and a prostitute (the
disciples & Mary Magdelene). And plus, we don't really know what people
say about Harry unless Harry hears it. Maybe nobody wants to break it to
him. ;)

What I'm looking forward to is the Judas kiss. But I'm a Judas
sympathizer and the biggest Ron fan in my postal district. I just can't
wait to see how(if) JKR pulls it out of her hat.

Per the resurrection, I have no theories. I just really hope he doesn't
come round again as a ghost, because in my opinion that's far too cheesy
and predictable. I like the phoenix idea and would love it if JKR threw
some Buddhist mythology into her Christian storyline.

ps As someone who has admitted to being so-so about Harry, I ran across
one of a few moments where I admire him. (SS p303)

"VOLDEMORT!" Harry bellowed, and Hagrid was so shocked, he stopped
crying. "I've met him and I'm calling him by his name." Damn straight.
