I'm willing to bet the map started insulting Filch the way it did 
Snape.  I doubt Filch would have suspected it was anything other 
than a piece of parchment that insults people, which seems to 
be the kind of this he would confiscate given his absolute lack of 
a sense of humour.

But the comment about MWPP passing down the map to 
someone else who lost it to Filch is interesting.  I just realized 
how strange it was that MWPP never managed to get the map *
back* once it was confiscated.  Surely they'd be up to the 
challenge of breaking into an office and opening a drawer.
