Yes, she is very helpful (in my opinion she loves helping
other people out with her vast knowledge, whether they want
the help or not <g>), but I don't think she does it to get
"a boy's attention".

I think Hermione loves to be needed as much as schoolwork.

She's a great friend, but she's young and she's human.
I don't think Hermione is above using a little trickery now
and then.
