<<<Me I personally don't think there is any doubt that Harry lives if for no other reason than that this series was written for a younger audience! (It's just a testiment to it's quality that us older folks love it too!) I don't think after leading everybody through the 7 years of trails and tribulations of Harry Potter, the author is going to cause the trama and consternation in the readers by killing him off! It may make for a great Greek tragedy, but I'll bet the store Harry Potter lives!>>>

There are many magical loopholes that can make Harry Potter's body die, and his persona remain. There could be a transformation where Harry's little boy self transforms into a full blown wizard. He would emerge from this with a new identity. A bit like a caterpillar emerging from a chrysalis to become a mighty butterfly. To use your, Two Towers reference(edited)for another analogy, Gandalf the Grey has a transformation to Gandalf the White after suffering a certain 'death'. He emerges from that trial a more powerful sorceror.

There's no earthly way of knowing / Which direction we are going / There's no knowing where we're rowing / Or which way the river's flowing / Is it raining? / Is it snowing? / Is a hurricane a-blowing? / Not a speck of light is showing / So the danger must be growing / Are the fires of hell a-glowing? / Is the grisly reaper mowing? / Yes, the danger must be growing / 'Cause the rowers keep on rowing / And they're certainly not showing / Any signs that they are slowing!
