Um. The point is not whether or not JKR *can* flesh Ginny out and
develop her as a character and as a potential love interest for
Harry. I'm very, very confident that she *can.*
The question, guys, is why *Hasn't* she done so already if it's so
clear that Ginny is to be The Love of the Hero?! Why leave Ginny a
mystery? Why not even hardly mention her in passing in the last half
of the last book? It just seems to me that Ginny might really just
be a background character. Maybe that's all there is to it. :--)
Me:
My inbox is a bit backed up and I tried to flick through other messages under this thread, so forgive me if I'm repeating anyone here.
"Ginny does have a bigger role in Book Five." http://www.oregonlive.com/books/index.ssf?/books/00/10/al_11browl22.frame
I've also heard reference to a quote going, "Ginny Weasley will play more of a role in Book Five," from a Philadelphia Inquirer article, but it doesn't seem to be in the archives anymore.
Now, both quotes are from 2000 articles, so I guess she could've taken it out, but I've just always been assuming she /won't/ be a background character because of quotes like those.
