Treska replied:
in GOF ch 32, when Wormtail takes Harry's blood, he says "Blood of the
enemy...forcibly taken". While Voldemort using Harry's blood to revive
(rejuvenate? resurrect?) himself might create a link between himself and
Harry, I don't know if it would constitute a life debt. As far as I
remember, the life debts actually mentioned in the book (James saving
Snape, Harry saving Wormtail) were done *voluntarily*. Would it weigh
as much if someone owes their life to you due to no real action or
choice on your part -- even against your will? One of the themes of the
books seems to be about the choices people make. Harry didn't choose to
help Voldemort.
Me:
Not to mention that Voldemort *wasn't* going to die if Harry hadn't provided him with his blood.
A life-debt can be created, if I interpret canon correctly, when a person's life is saved. (Notice I say 'can', since this is not the only criteria). Was Voldemort's life saved? No. Was he even alive? It's a matter of opinion, of course, but one thing is certain - he wasn't dying.
Maria,
who thinks that there is nothing like 100-odd messages to read when one is thoroughly fanfic-contaminated. Barb is evil! <g>
