The only problem I have with Snape being evil is that it's so maddingly 
obvious!  Everyone expects (well, not everyone, but alot of people) Snape to 
turn evil.  That would be very anti-climactic of JRK to make him evil ... 
again.  It just doesn't make us think and the HP series has made us think 
alot to discover what was going on.  Snape being evil would just be too 
predictable.
