Can you really compare Ginny's and Hermione's experience
like this?

Hermione had been crying for hours in the bathroom over a
much smaller issue than Ginny, and how exactly did Hermione
keep her head?

Hermione Granger was shrinking against the wall opposite,
looking as if she was about to faint. The troll was advancing on her,
knocking the sinks off the walls as it went.

And a couple of sentences later:
"Come on, run, run!" Harry yelled at Hermione, trying to pull
her toward the door, but she couldn't move, she was still flat
against the wall, her mouth open with terror.

and

Hermione had sunk to the floor in fright; Ron pulled out his
own wand -- not knowing what he was going to do he heard himself
cry the first spell that came into his head: "Wingardium Leviosa!"

Yes, she did make up a story for the teachers and thanked
the boys, but I didn't see Hermione bravely facing down a
mountain troll.

In fact, this is a problem that Hermione still needs to
conquer. She tends to freeze up and forget all about her
vast knowledge in a dangerous situation.

In PoA, she still reacted the same way when Ron was dragged
into the Whomping Willow.

She's great with theory, but not so great when it comes to
thinking under pressure.

I have the feeling Hermione enjoys figuring out mental
puzzles and is great at it, but having to act under pressure
is not her forte.
