Actually "I am Lord Voldemort" is an anagram for Tom Marvolo Riddle.
Tom Marvolo Riddle is his given name; he assumed the name Lord
Voldemort while he was busy going over to the dark side while at
Hogwarts. I don't have CoS handy but I don't understand why "Tom
Riddle held much the same status as HP, except, of course, for the
fame" -- unless you're talking about the fact that neither was
a "pureblood" wizard. Or are you talking about the fact that both
were raised by cruel Muggles -- Tom in the orphanage, and Harry by
the Dursleys.

Ah, but Riddle was not "just like" HP when he was young. He was
obviously a very powerful young wizard, but canon shows (IMO) that he
only used to power in destructive ways, whereas Harry has used his
power over and over again to help people (with some exceptions like
blowing up Aunt Marge). I've always thought that Riddle saw Harry as
one of those "too weak to use" all of the power that he has. Rather
than being jealous of Harry's strength of mind, I think Riddle saw
Harry as being soft and pitiful because he *won't* give in to his
dark side (or at least he hasn't yet, but of course there are still 3
books to go ... <slapping own hand> ... No, I don't believe for a
moment that Harry will end up being A Bad Guy. But Riddle (and
earlier Voldemort) certainly seem to want him to end up that way. And
if he refuses to go that way, they want to destroy him.)

That's kind of interesting ... Whose "one" would Hermione be? :-)

Anne U
(will need to look up anagrams for Ron's name too)
