This is good, but I'd like to present another one: Who here has read
*Seventeen* by Booth Tarkington? In it, we spend a summer watching a
seventeen-year-old in the throes of his first love, with a beautiful and
sought-after girl who's probably older than he is and, if not, has
definitely matured further than he has. (Sort of like Harry and Cho, only
Our Hero acts more like Ginny at age 10.)
Remember who he ended up married to? Not his First Love. His little sister's
best friend, ten years old and barely noticed by Our Hero at the time. Ten
years later, he's twenty-seven, she's twenty, and he's standing in front of
an altar, watching her come down the aisle.
I'm inclined to agree that just because Ginny is firmly in the background
now doesn't mean she will stay there (whether romantically or otherwise).
After all, as others have pointed out, Sirius was a throw-away reference
until PoA ...
